Prithvi Shaw to play for India A in the upcoming Deodhar Trophy

Deodhar Trophy is being considered as a platform for the selectors to make a decision about a set of players that will play for the Indian team at World Cup 2019. As a part of the plan, youngsters along with senior players have been picked for the India A, India B, and India C squad for the competition

Recently, the selectors picked up this year’s India A, India B, and India C sides for the upcoming Deodhar Trophy. The annual domestic One-Day tournament witnesses the clash of usually the above-mentioned three teams along with the winner of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

However, this time, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to go against the norm as the selectors have been planning the competition to select a core set of players that can be part of the Indian team for World Cup 2019.

Accordingly, players like Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, Dinesh Karthik and Suresh Raina, who have been unable to stabilise their spot in the Indian ODI side, will ensure that they make way towards being secured in the ODI team for World Cup. On the other hand, the selectors are also interested in picking up young exciting talents like Prithvi Shaw, Krunal Pandya, Shubman Gill as they have been included in the domestic tournament squads.

Alongside, Shaw, who is in terrific form will be part of the team’s batting attack. Shaw recently made his Test debut and scored a century in the first Test match against West Indies. The 18-year-old later went on to hit a half-century against West Indies in the second Test match and bagged the ‘Man of The Series’ award for the two-match Test series.

Meanwhile, the India A team will be led by Dinesh Karthik, after his recent exclusion from the national ODI team.

India A: Dinesh Karthik (capt & wk), Prithvi Shaw, Anmolpreet Singh, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ankit Bawne, Nitish Rana, Karun Nair, Krunal Pandya, R Ashwin, Shreyas Gopal, S Mulani, Mohammed Siraj, Dhawal Kulkarni, Siddarth Kaul.

India B: Shreyas Iyer (capt), Mayank Agarwal, Rituraj Gaekwad, PS Chopra, Hanuma Vihari, Manoj Tiwary, Ankush Bains (wk), Rohit Rayudu, K Gowtham, Mayank Markande, Shahbaz Nadeem, Deepak Chahar, Varun Aaron, Jaydev Unadkat.

India C: Ajinkya Rahane (capt), Abhinav Mukund, Shubman Gill, R Samarth, Suresh Raina, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan (WK), Vijay Shankar, Washington Sundar, Rahul Chahar, Pappu Roy, Navdeep Saini, Rajneesh Gurbani, Umar Nazir.
