The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has been facing financial issues due to lack of eligible authority to sign its cheques. The lack of the proper authorities had put the fourth ODI between India and West Indies in danger and thus, MCA had asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to host the match instead.
In response, the board denied the request and shifted the ODI from Wankhede stadium to Cricket Club of India’s (CCI) Brabourne Stadium. Fumed over the decision, the Mumbai Cricket Association had approached Bombay High Court on October 16 alleging that BCCI had shifted the venue from Wankhede to Brabourne without making an official conversation.

After the petition was filed by MCA, Bombay HC asked BCCI to respond within a week during the petition’s hearing on October 17.
Alongside, as a result of the BCCI-MCA clash, the India Women’s team is facing problems prior to the Women's T20 World Cup and were unable to train at Wankhede stadium for the first day of their preparatory camp.
The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) had decided that the match on October 29, i.e. India-Windies Fourth ODI, will be held at Mumbai’s Brabourne stadium instead of Wankhede stadium.
