Two months ago, Mumbai batsman Prithvi Shaw received his national call after he was named in the 15-man squad for the last two Test matches in England. However, Shaw did not make it to the playing XI and had to warm the bench for the rest of the tour. But soon, he was named in the 12-man squad for the India-West Indies test series where it was assured that Shaw will receive his Test cap.

Eventually, Shaw made his debut in Rajkot after he became the youngest Indian to score a century on debut. With his run-rich form and hunger for runs, the 18-year-old finished with 237 runs in the two Test matches against the Windies. While the whole world was in awe of another Mumbai batsman, former cricketer and Indian head coach Ravi Shastri indicated that he saw glimpses of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Brian Lara in Prithvi Shaw.

On Sunday, Shastri spoke highly of the young batsman after India cruised to an easy victory over West Indies in the Test series. The Indian coach said,

He is born to play cricket. He's been playing since the age of eight in the maidans of Mumbai. You can see all that hard work showing. He's a spectator's delight. There's a bit of Sachin there, a bit of Viru in him and when he walks — there's a bit of Lara as well."

He added that if the 18-year-old does not let success rush to his head, then he has a bright future.

After a scintillating century against the Windies in the first Test match at Rajkot, Shaw opened the innings for India with a flamboyant 52-ball-70 in the second Test match at Hyderabad. However, along with the Indian coach, the Indian skipper was also very happy for Shaw,

“You might feel that he will nick one now and then but he hardly nicks the ball. That we saw in England as well. He was batting in the nets, really attacking but was in control. But that kind of rare control against new ball is a great thing to have. Any of us weren't even 10 percent of what when he is at 18 or 19.”
