Prithvi Shaw, the young player from Mumbai scored a sensational century on his Test debut after he was included in the playing XI for the India-West Indies Test match on October 4. The 18-year-old smashed the hundred in just 99 deliveries. The Mumbai batsman became the second-youngest Indian to score a century after Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar.

Meanwhile, Shaw became the fourth youngest player to score a century on debut after Bangladesh's Mohammad Ashraful (17 years and 61 days), Zimbabwe's Hamilton Masakadza (17 years and 352 days) and Pakistan's Saleem Malik (18 years and 323 days) who have scored Test centuries on debut at a younger age than Shaw.

With 1,418 runs in 14 First-Class matches, Prithvi Shaw is in a run-rich form. With such a staggering record, he received his maiden call-up to the Test side during the England tour and was named in the last two Test matches but Shaw was not included in the playing XI in both.

Earlier, Shaw had scored a century on his Ranji Trophy debut and Duleep Trophy debut.

Alongside, he was also impressive during the Vijay Hazare Trophy this year during the Mumbai-Baroda match. The young batsman Prithvi Shaw missed his well-deserved century by 2 runs. Besides, former cricketer Mark Waugh stated that Prithvi’s techniques were similar to that of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Adding to his class, Shaw had led the India U-19 side to victory during the U-19 World. Shaw had finished the tournament with 261 runs to his account, with an average of 65.25.
