Former Australian legend Mark Waugh seems to be in awe of young batsman, Prithvi Shaw. Mark thinks that Prithvi’s techniques are similar to that of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.
The first thing you notice is his technique, it’s very similar to Sachin Tendulkar’s,” says Waugh, who is here in India as part of the broadcast team.
He expressed that Prithvi stays really stable on the crease and plays the stroke quite late which helps him punch the ball, adding to an excellent base to play any shot to any bowler. Mark felt Sachin and Prithvi share the same qualities.
This is not the first time the young Mumbai batsman has been compared to the Master Blaster. Earlier, former Australian Captain Michael Clarke saw hints of Brian Lara in Shaw’s stroke and bat swing whereas Kumar Sangakkara described him to be really balanced on the crease and urged the fans to not compare him to Sachin Tendulkar and instead let him be a kind of his own.

Earlier this year, Prithvi led a young Indian team and won the U-19 World Cup against Australia. Prithvi completed the tournament with 261 runs to his account, with an average of 65.25.
Prithvi, who hails from Mumbai is currently playing for Delhi Daredevils in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). So far, he has scored 140 runs with a strike rate of 166.6 in four games. Shaw is just 18 years old and has hit a half-century making him the joint-youngest cricketer to score a half-century in the IPL.
Prithvi Shaw has played four innings so far and the scores in the four innings are 22, 62, 9, and 47. Delhi Daredevils are currently sixth on the points table, winning three of their nine games but Prithvi Shaw has been the find of the season for Daredevils.
