Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been making headlines since his comeback from the injury. The youngster has once again become the talk of the town as he showed his hitting prowess in the DY Patil T20 cricket tournament in Navi Mumbai on Friday. Pandya became the highest Indian run-scorer in T20s as he scored an unbeaten 158 in just 55 balls to help Reliance 1 reach 238/4 in the first semi-final against Bharat Petroleum Company Limited (BPCL).

Owing to the all-rounder's innings, his side managed a comfortable win by 104 runs. The Reliance bowlers left BPCL all out for 134 in 18.4 overs. The special inning comes from Pandya after a long injury which resulted in a back surgery for him. The 26-year-old hit 20 sixes and six fours after coming in to bat at No 4 with his team reeling at 10/2.

The Baroda batsman formed a 106-run partnership with Saurabh Tiwary (41 off 34 balls) to stabilise the innings for Reliance. Once the team was in a comfortable position, Pandya went on a six-hitting spree in the final overs against the likes of Shivam Dube and Sandeep Sharma.

Prior to this, he had scored a century against CAG in the group stages and this time, he reached the three-figure mark in just 39 balls with three consecutive sixes in the 17th over off Rahul Tripathi.

Pandya did not hold back against the BPCL bowling lineup as he slammed 20 humongous sixes and just six fours in his record-breaking innings to take Reliance 1 to post 238. Prior to Pandya, Shreyas Iyer held the record for the highest individual score by an Indian in T20 with 147 for Mumbai against Sikkim in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

The all-rounder had undergone surgery after he suffered a lower-back injury five months back. After which, he missed the New Zealand tour as he was unfit but he started bowling at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru after returning from a check-up in the UK.
