Since the coronavirus crisis has spread across the globe in the past few months, many big sporting tournaments have been postponed or cancelled this year. It was earlier announced that the ICC Men's T20 World Cup series, which was this year’s most awaited cricketing tournament, had been postponed to 2021 in view of the pandemic. 

However, there is finally some good news for cricket fans all over the world. On Friday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that the next edition of ICC Men's T20 World Cup will be held in India in 2021. The Council also mentioned that the T20 tournament in 2022 will be hosted by Australia. 

The last T20 World Cup that India hosted was in the year 2016. Apart from this, the ICC Men's 50-over Cricket World Cup will be also be held in India in  2023. Meanwhile, the ICC Women’s 50-over Cricket World Cup which was supposed to take place in February 2021 in New Zealand, has now been postponed to February-March 2022.

The COVID-19 pandemic has also postponed the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament in India, which was supposed to begin in March this year. However, since the ICC Men's T20 World Cup has been postponed, IPL is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 19 to November 10.
