Even prior to the first match against Australia, the Indian team has received their first blow. Young batsman Prithvi Shaw has been ruled out of the first Test match due to an injury during a practice match against Australia XI at Sydney Cricket Ground. 

Shaw was fielding during the practice match and at that time, the opener picked up an injury (ankle) which caused his ouster from the ground at the moment. Later when he was provided with medical care, the 19-year-old was ruled out of the first match.

The India-Australia Test Series is set to begin December 6 onwards and alongside, it was expected that Prithvi Shaw would be opening the innings for India. But with the injury, now the spot will be expectedly shifted to Lokesh Rahul.

Shaw was in good form after the stalwart scored 66 runs in 69 balls for India in the second day of the practice match.
