After 117 days of halt due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, international cricket has finally resumed. Day one of the 1st Test match between England and West Indies, was played on July 8 at Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

The safety of the players being of the utmost importance, a set of new rules were introduced by the International Cricket Council (ICC), to combat the threat of Covid-19. These rules include no saliva on the ball, virus substitutes, extra DRS reviews, non neutral officials and the match was strictly played without any spectators present in the stadium.

The much anticipated match however, only lasted for 17.4 overs as smouldering black clouds and rain took over the stadium in England.
