In the second encounter between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to field first.

After choosing to bat first, RCB got off to a good start after opener Manan Vohra scored 45 off 31 before falling to leggie, Mayank Markande. RCB looked shaky after they lost Vohra in the 9th over but Brendon McCullum and skipper Virat Kohli stood strong and just when the pair looked dangerous, Hardik caused a run out to end McCullum’s innings. The duo built a fourth-wicket partnership for 60 runs.

Hardik Pandya turned the game for Mumbai Indians’ favor after dismissing three batsmen in the 18th over, eventually ending the game for Mandeep Singh and Virat Kohli in two consecutive balls. Despite losing wickets in the last three overs, a quick cameo of 23 off 10 deliveries by Colin de Grandhomme helped the RCB post a total of 167.

Hardik Pandya was impressive with bowling as he bagged three wickets for Mumbai Indians whereas McCleneghan, Bumrah, and Markande got one wicket each.

In response to the target of 168, Mumbai Indians were off to a shaky start as they lost the wickets of both the openers, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav in the first and the fourth over respectively. Rohit Sharma too departed right after Suryakumar Yadav.

Just when Mumbai were struggling and all hopes looked lost for Mumbai Indians, the Pandya brothers stood firm on the crease and kept the scoreboard ticking. The team needed 30 runs off the last two overs and that's when Mohammed Siraj broke Pandya brothers' partnership of 56 runs. Hardik Pandya scored his fifty but was out after.

Royal Challengers’ bowlers did exceptionally well job in defending the target. Umesh Yadav, Tim Southee, Mohammed Siraj bowled well and scalped two wickets each.
