Mumbai Indians finished 2019 in style and also this has been a good decade for the franchise. They are also all set to play the opener at IPL 2020. The first match will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 29, 2020.


This announcement was made by Delhi Capitals official to news agency IANS. Given that Australia and New Zealand will be engaged in T20I series, which ends on March 29, players from both these teams will not be able to make it to the first couple of games. In addition to this, England too will be playing Sri Lanka in a test match which ends on March 31, even English players will not be able to part of IPL 2020 for the first few matches.  


The franchise was hoping that IPL Governing Committee would go back to the old format of starting IPL season from April 1. However, the Delhi Capital officials are still hopeful that IPL GC will look into the matter and perhaps make the necessary changes so that all teams will be able to start with their complete squad.

Rohit Sharma, Sherfane Rutherford, Suryakumar Yadav, Anmolpreet Singh, Chris Lynn , Saurabh Tiwary, Dhawal Kulkarni, Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga, Mitchell McClenaghan, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, Mohsin Khan, Prince Balwant Rai Singh, Digvijay Deshmukh, Hardik Pandya, Jayant Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Anukul Roy, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Ishan Kishan, Quinton de Kock, Aditya Tare.


Who will be missed?

If the first match starts from 29th March as scheduled then, here are the players that will not be able to make it for Mumbai Indians:

  • New-Zealand bowlers Mitchell McClenaghan and Trent Boult
  • Australian batsman Chris Lynn and Nathan Coulter-Nile
