Sourav Ganguly, President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday, October 12, told PTI that Mahendra Singh Dhoni will not be charging any fees for mentoring the Indian cricket team for the T20 World Cup.

MS Dhoni is set to mentor the Indian cricket team for the  International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup. The T20 World Cup will commence on Monday, October 17. Last month, BCCI had announced that MS Dhoni would mentor the Indian team for the T20 World Cup.

Even Jay Shah, the BCCI Secretary, confirmed the same and stated that he "will not be charging any honorarium for his services."

After Dhoni was selected as a mentor, Shah had mentioned that the decision to appoint the former captain of India as a mentor for the current Indian team was taken after he met MS in Dubai during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhoni is currently leading fans' favorite Chennai Super Kings in IPL and has already reached the finals.

Dhoni then agreed to mentor the team for the T20 World Cup only. When Shah was asked if the current captain Virat Kohli and the head coach Ravi Shashtri were consulted, Shah said that he spoke to the captain as well as the vice-captain and Shastri. All of them were on the same page, and hence the decision was taken.

Meanwhile today, October 13, BCCI unveiled a new jersey that the players will wear for the T20 World Cup.

The World Cup will be taking place in UAE and Oman. India will play its first T20 match on Sunday, October 24, against Pakistan in Dubai. After the T20 World Cup, the current captain Virat Kohli will be stepping down as a captain from the limited-overs format.
