In a shocking revelation, Mumbai Police stated that the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) owes them ₹21.34 crore for providing services. The revelation came in response to a Right To Information (RTI) query filed by activist Anil Galgali. Earlier, the 2018 IPL security had cost the city police ₹1.48 crore and MCA is yet to clear that bill too.

Wankhede Stadium is situated in the heart of the city and yet, none of the matches faced any troubles due to the security provided by the police. However, the police is yet to receive the payment of ₹21.34 crore, including pending interest of Rs 5.61 crore, for providing security for IPL and other major cricket tournaments till 2018.
