Young batsman Prithvi Shaw has been out of action for quite some time now but the opening batsman is likely to return to Mumbai's squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy after serving his suspension. The young prodigy was handed an eight-month suspension for a doping violation.

Shaw's suspension will end at midnight on November 15, 2019, as the period of ineligibility will be considered to have begun March 16 onwards. The chairman of the state's ad-hoc selection panel, Milind Rege said that Shaw's selection will certainly be discussed.

He will be free to play from November 16, so of course he will be considered for selection. I can't make any commitment to whether he will be back, but we will certainly discuss his selection," Rege told ESPNcricinfo.

The Rege-led panel has only announced squad for first three matches for Mumbai as key players like Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, and Shivam Dube are currently part of the India squad for the T20 series against Bangladesh.

However, Mumbai will have played six of their seven group games before Shaw becomes eligible to take the field again. Shaw was suspended by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in July this year.

"Prithvi Shaw, registered with Mumbai Cricket Association, has been suspended for a doping violation. Shaw had inadvertently ingested a prohibited substance, which can be commonly found in cough syrups," BCCI had said in a statement.

After which, Shaw has owned up to his mistake and has stated that although he is 'shaken by the decision', he will 'come out faster and stronger' out of this.

His sample was subsequently tested and found to contain Terbutaline. Terbutaline, a specified substance, is prohibited both In & Out of Competition in the WADA Prohibited List of Substances.
