Ahead of the Ranji Trophy game against Baroda, the downtrodden Mumbai batting line-up have received a boost as the in-form batsman and seasoned player Shreyas Iyer will be playing for the team in the match on December 14.

Iyer is part of India A squad that is currently touring New Zealand, but the third and final ODI will be played on December 11 at Bay Oval. Accordingly, Iyer will be able to return home in time for the crucial game against Baroda.

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) made the announcement through their website. However, former skipper and experienced player, Suryakumar Yadav has been dropped after the batsman was struggling to find his form with the bat.

Despite Iyer’s comeback, the team will be led by Siddhesh Lad who captained Mumbai in their match against arch-rivals Maharashtra. Currently, Baroda are on the fifth spot on the points table with 13 points whereas Mumbai are ailing at the 16th spot with five points.
