Star India has won Indian Premier League (IPL) media rights for a whopping INR 16,347 Cr as BCCI hosted IPL’s media rights auction in Mumbai on Monday.
After a few round of discussions among the board members, Star India has emerged as the sole rights owner of the T20 tournament for the next five years.
Star will be the broadcasters from 2018 to 2022.
Television and digital rights were being sold separately. This would come as a big blow to Sony Pictures Networks India as they were the media rights earlier and were going neck to neck with Star for the rights.
