'93 Bombay Blast: Life imprisonment for Abu Salem and Karimullah Khan; death penalty for Taher Merchant and Feroz Khan

On September 7, 2017, a special TADA court sentenced gangster Abu Salem and Karimullah Khan to life imprisonment and announced a death penalty to Taher Merchant and Feroz Khan for their involvement in the March 12, 1993, Bombay Blast case.

TADA court fined both Abu Salem and Karimullah Khan INR 2 lakh while Riyaz Siddique got a 10-year jail term and fine of INR 10,000. Karimulla Khan gets a life sentence for conviction of murder and criminal conspiracy.

On June 16, 2017, the court had convicted six people including the mastermind of the attack Mustafa Dossa and Abu Salem on June 16 this year. Mustafa Dosa died of a heart attack after he was convicted.

On March 12, 1993, a series of 12 explosions took place across Mumbai in which as many as 257 people were killed and 713 others got seriously injured.
