One of the Mumbai police officials said that Chennai police had issued a lookout circular against Datta. He added that on Saturday, she was intercepted at the international airport in Mumbai. Sahar police then intimated Chennai counterparts about her arrival after which she was taken into custody.

The probe revealed that Datta used her passport seven times and on all seven occasions, only the departure stamp was recorded and no corresponding arrival stamp. “This proves trafficking had been done in connivance with immigration officers and agents,” the application submitted before the court stated.
