Ghatkopar’s ANC unit busts drug racket; Arrests two

Mumbai’s Anti-Narcotics Cell of Ghatkopar unit has arrested two people in connection with the smuggling of drugs in the pretext of selling cough syrup bottles. The ANC unit seized nearly 3560 bottles which cost ₹7 lakh. 

ANC deputy police commissioner Shivdeep Lande said that their unit received information regarding smuggling of drugs. Meanwhile, the Ghatkopar ANC unit’s police inspector Shelke received a tip that two trucks ladened with drugs will be smuggled out. Accordingly, under the supervision of Lande, a trap was laid out at Gholapdev and Byculla. Police then arrested tempo driver Hazrat Rehmat Ali Khan (21) where they also seized 1760 Corex cough syrup bottles which cost ₹50,000 in the market. 

From Byculla, ANC unit of Ghatkopar arrested Mohammed Siddique Gulam Hazrat Khan (45) seizing 1800 bottles which cost ₹60,000. In total, police seized bottles worth ₹17.12 lakh.

Along with this, Mumbai police also arrested two accused, Danish Aasif Sayyed (23) and Kashi Gupta (21) for selling drugs amongst college students and seized 109 gram MD drugs worth ₹2 lakh as well. Accused Kashi belongs to Dahisar and Danish belongs to Kandivali. Police are investigating the case for further information.
