The Titwala police have registered a case against mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law and husband for harassing daughter-in-law for dowry and inciting her to commit suicide. For the past few months, she was being harassed by her in-laws for not paying up INR 20 lakh.
The name of the deceased is Aarti Ketan Bhangre (25). She lived with her in-laws in the Hari Om Valley Phase II building in Titwala. Police have registered a case against father-in-law Dinkar Kashinath Bhangre, mother-in-law Latika Dinkar Bhangre, husband Ketan, Deer Gunjan, daughter-in-law Manisha Gunjan Bhangre. The accused are natives of Ekdara village in Akole taluka of Ahmednagar district. Janardan Ghare, the brother of the married woman, has filed a complaint in the Titwala police station. Ghare family lives in Kaluste village near Igatpuri.

Police said Aarti was married to Ketan last year. Aarti is originally from Nashik. A few days after the marriage, the in-laws started taunting Aarti. "We were not given money at the wedding, we were disrespected, you must bring 20 lakh rupees from your parents house, you can't cook well’, this is how Aarti was tormented everyday. Aarti was tired of this torture. She mentioned the same to her parents.
Aarti committed suicide by hanging herself at her father-in-law's house in Titwala on Saturday night as the trouble started increasing day by day. As soon as the Titwala police got this information, they came to the spot and took the body into custody. After the case was registered on the complaint of Aarti's brother, the police arrested all the five accused. Police produced them in the Kalyan District Court. The court ordered them to be kept in police custody till Tuesday.
