A person from Satara tried to commit suicide by stabbing his hand with a cutter in front of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s hall on Wednesday. A case of attempted suicide has been registered against the person and a notice has been issued to him, sources said.


The incident took place on the sixth floor of the ministry on Wednesday around 3:30 pm. Suresh Pandurang Jagtap (46), a native of Phaltan in Satara, took this step after being fed up with debt. He entered the ministry on Wednesday with a pass.

As soon as he came in front of Fadnavis's room, he started stabbing his hand with a cutter. The police immediately detained him. He was admitted to GT hospital for treatment. Later, he was handed over to Marine Drive police. The police have taken him into custody and registered a case of attempted suicide against him. He was penalised under Criminal Penalty and was released by giving notice under Section 41 (a) (1). He was treated at GT Hospital and the police recovered the cutter used in the attempted suicide.
