According to sources, the use of drones, paragliders, remote-controlled micro-light aircraft, aerial missiles and other similar devices has been banned in the Commissionerate of Police till January 29, 2021, in view of a potential terrorist attack.

It has been estimated that the decision has been taken in view of the Indian Republic Day on January 26. Moreover, Mumbai Police Deputy Commissioner (Operations) and Executive Magistrate S. Chaitanya has issued the order which states that action will be taken under section 188 of the 1960 Act for the people not abiding by the rules.

In an initiative to avoid any untoward incident on Republic Day in the financial capital of the country, the secret service of Maharashtra has taken the abovementioned decision. Following the letter from the intelligence department, the Mumbai Police have issued an alert instructing security at all major places across the city.

The police further stated that it is necessary that "certain restrictions" should be put on the activities of such elements across the Brihanmumbai Police Commissionerate to prevent possible sabotage through such flying objects.

Moreover, according to the alert issued by the office of the Deputy Commissioner (Operations) of Mumbai Police, terrorists and anti-nationals can carry out the attack through drones, remotely operated micro-light aircraft, aerial missiles or paragliders.

As a result, considering the input of the intelligence department, the police have banned any flying object/flying equipment, etc. across the city. According to police, the order will remain in force for a month or so until further notice regarding the same.
