Girgaum Chowpatty-  In recent times, cruelty towards animals have increased and such cases are being reported as well. In order to oppose to this ongoing heinous crime,  Space organization came out on streets on Republic Day and voiced their opinion by forming a human chain. They demanded a change in Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (PCA) which prohibits any person from inflicting, causing, or if it is the owner, permitting, unnecessary pain or suffering to be inflicted on any animal. The Act makes it a crime to beat, kick, torture, mutilate, administer an injurious substance, or cruelly kill an animal. They want state government to frame the said offences as a nonbailable offence.
"We are not doing any crime by feeding stray dogs. Still, we are abused and are threatened and so we want the state to make changes in PCA act," said animal lover Pooja Shah.
