On Thursday, December 2, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is claimed to have signed the suspension file of IPS Officer and former Mumbai Police Commissioner, Param Bir Singh. For further procedures, the file will be sent to the state home department.
Home Department Government of Maharashtra later on Thursday stated that the state government has placed Singh under suspension with immediate effect, until further order, reported news agency ANI. Adding that during this time Singh will be paid the requisite allowances.

Moreover, during this time, Singh's headquarter will be office of Director General of Police, Maharashtra State, Mumbai thus he cannot leave without obtaining permission. Alongside Singh, Parag Manere, the then DCP of Thane city is also suspended who was accused in a criminal case.
Param Bir Singh is a 1988-batch IPS officer. He was removed from the position of the Mumbai Police Commissioner on March 17 after the Antilia bomb scare case. Later, Singh was made the general commander of the Maharashtra State Home Guard post his allegations of corruption against the ex-state home minister, Anil Deshmukh.
Reports claim that Singh is likely to be suspended on Thursday on the ground of "indiscipline and other irregularities".
Singh was recently declared as an 'offender' by a local Magistrate court. He then arrived in Mumbai in November to join the police investigation in an alleged extortion case registered against him. Singh appeared in the city after the Supreme Court accorded him protection against arrest.
Since last May, Singh was claimed to be untraceable. He faces nearly five extortion cases and is being investigated by a government-appointed panel.
In the backdrop of the corruption allegations being levied against Deshmukh, he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate and is presently in judicial custody.
