A day after former Mumbai Police Commissioner, Param Bir Singh reappeared in Mumbai to come before the crime branch in the extortion case, state Home Minister Dilip Patil stated that further action against Singh will be undertaken after discussing it with the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, highlighted reports.

The state will also decide the course of action according to the state’s police service rules. The news agency, ANI quoted Patil stating that permissible action will be undertaken according to the police service rules. Adding that further decisions will be undertaken after talking to the CM.

A court had earlier declared Singh as an absconder since he remained incommunicable for months to an end. Earlier this week, he was claimed to be in Chandigarh. Singh claimed that there was a threat to his life in the state after which the Supreme Court offered him protection from arrest.

Additionally, based on reports, a non-bailable warrant that was issued against Singh was cancelled in a Thane sessions court. The judiciary asked Singh to join the Thane police in the extortion case investigation.

In other developments, an ACP has written a letter to the Mumbai Police Commissioner alleging that during the 26/11 terror attacks, Singh confiscated Ajmal Kasab’s phone ensuring that it never appeared during the investigation.
