When will men stop perceiving women as a sex object? If she is not raped and killed, she is molested. If not molested, then she is eve teased. This way or that, perverts appear to leave no chance to make her uncomfortable.

To add to the eve-teasing and molestation, flashing cases are becoming rampant in the city. Recently, a flashing case was reported at CST where a man flashed two girls. The victims recorded the incident and the pervert who is now behind the bars.

Another case was reported at Borivali where a man flashed a girl in a local train and then threatened the victim with rape before getting off the train. A similar incident has now been reported from Powai.

On Thursday, four girls were on their way home when they were stopped by a biker near the Galleria mall. The biker was riding a blue coloured bike. After stopping his bike, he started flashing at the 19-year-old complainant and her other three friends. The scared girls dialled 100 to complain about the same but got a mild response. Meanwhile, they also happened to meet police officers nearby, yet the police simply told girls to go home.

Later, this incident went viral on social networking websites, which awakened the Powai police from their slumber. They immediately sent women constables to the complainant's residence to record her statement and file a complaint. Police now have started investigating the matter and are checking CCTV footage for further evidence.

“There was a miscommunication between the complainant and the police and so it took some time to act and respond. However, we send the women’s constable team at the victim’s residence. We have started our investigation also,” said Rashmi Karandikar, police spokesperson, Mumbai police.
