Mumbai - The Praja Foundation, in its annual report on law and order situation in Mumbai, has claimed that the number of rape and molestation cases have increased in the mega city. In the last five years (2011-2015/16), incidents of rape and molestation have increased by 289 and 287 per cent respectively, says the report. The foundation surveyed more than 25,000 households for compiling information for the report. Women and girls are worried about their security, states the report. The government is not serious about police reforms as the State Security Commission is yet to be formed while the State Police Authority is also reeling under neglect although a committee has been formed for the same, alleges project director Milind Mhaske.
