Gaikwad was quoted by accounts elaborating on how the number of grade one students stood at 32,888. Adding that the survey brought to light that 12,300 students which are 37 per cent weren’t able to attain the minimum abilities to read and write.

According to the school education minister, this is the foremost percentage of students not being able to attain the requisite skills amongst all grades.
