The Universal Business School of India launched a case study research centre for enhancing management education for MBA aspirants all over the world on February 5, which is also celebrated as World Case teaching Day.

Universal Case Research Centre is a not-for-profit initiative of Universal Business School, India which will provide a stellar opportunity to shape research, case writing, industry-academia collaboration and teaching methods in business education.

The Universal Case Research Centre will focus on Indian and Asian case studies in areas such as business, operations, innovation, finance, marketing, organisation culture, ethics, family owned business, social enterprises, corporate governance, and e-commerce.

Tarun Anand, Chairman Universal Business School said, “Post-COVID case studies aren’t readily available. Management educators and corporate trainers are finding it difficult to find the appropriate cases studies available among the current publishers or the access to such cases is limited due to huge cost implications. In fact, by mid-2020, we were already facing huge difficulties in finding quality case studies. Personally, my facility and I found many of the available cases outdated as well. There are precious few in emerging sectors and emerging complex business situations.”

Dr Asha Bhatia, Director at the "Universal Case Research Centre” is now pioneering new cases as a service to the Indian industry, academia and students.

Dr Asha Bhatia, along with seven other professors is a member of the HBR Advisory Council. The other members are Dr Raja Roy Choudhury- Director of Academic affairs, Dr Pranjali Madhur- Associate Professor and HOD-HR, Dr Chandan Thakur- Associate Professor and HOD-Marketing, Prof Savio Saldanha- Associate Professor, Prof. Elora Basumatary- Programme Director, Prof. Vijay Tandon- Director of PGDM and International Programs and Prof. Vidhya Srinivas- Head of Marketing and Corporate Relations.

Dr Asha Bhatia adds, “We will publish a half yearly case research journal this year onwards, a case conference at UBS once a year and a yearly Case Study Competition.”

By collaborating with the industry and proposing, peer-reviewing and reading case studies, India’s MBA schools can be the new reservoir of knowledge, giving the world a broader understanding of how to overcome challenges.
