Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan's voice has been now added by Amazon to its virtual assistant Alexa.
It is not the first time that Amazon has tied up with a celebrity for the Alexa feature. However, this is India's first celebrity voice feature on Alexa, which is available on Echo devices, Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote, Fire TV Edition apart from the Alexa app.
How to enable Amitabh Bachchan's voice on Alexa?
You need to say, “Alexa, introduce me to Amitabh Bachchan” to purchase the celebrity voice. You can also get it directly from the Amazon site. Once the payment is confirmed, you will be able to start interacting with the actor's voice. You can also interact with Bachchan's voice using the wake word “Amit ji” by asking, “Alexa, enable Amit ji wake word.” It will work alongside the default “Alexa” wake word. This means that you can call the voice assistant by using the wake word "Alexa" and at the same time use "Amit ji" to speak with the actor's voice.
How much will this cost you?
Amazon has fixed an introductory price of INR 149 for one year.
What kind of conversations can you have with Bachchan here?
Apart from the previous settings of playing music, alarms, and weather updates in Bachchan's signature voice, you can access the stories from his life, a selection of poems by his father and popular Indian poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, tongue twisters, motivational quotes, and even his favourite songs.
You can also say, “Amit ji, tell me a funny story” to hear some behind-the-scenes information from the actor. Moreover, users can also add a special touch to birthday celebrations with greetings in Bachchan's voice by saying "Amit ji, it's my birthday".
According to reports, the Amazon-Amitabh Bachchan partnership for Alexa was formally announced in September last year.
