Popular television game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, is back to entertain the fans again. The show which changed fate for many Indians by rewarding them with lakhs of rupees will continue doing so, in this season too, but by bringing many new elements.

Just like many previous seasons, the show will be hosted by Bollywood’s Big-B, Amitabh Bachchan. Continuing the same format, he will be seen seeking answers for the asking questions, with his friend 'computer ji’ in return for monetary rewards.

As reported before, this season of KBC will also see some special guests from different cities, who have contributed to the betterment of the society. They will be seen every Friday. The first Friday of the show will see players from Indian women's cricket team.

Talking about the same, NP Singh, CEO, Sony Pictures India, said, “KBC is a show which has made a mark every season. It has been on TV screens for the last 17 years and we are now bringing the 9th season of the show. We have presented different campaigns over the years, with a belief in deriving insights from our society. The thoughts of the show are the same, and once again we will celebrate the power of knowledge. The theme of this season of KBC will reflect the thoughts of today's India.”

Like mentioned before, the format of the show will see some interesting additions. Business Head of Sony Entertainment Television, said, “With Jio on board, viewers will be able to enjoy play along, where they can see the options for every question on Jio app. The entire idea of the second screen is to bring an additional platform for interaction and we believe ‘play along’ will be revolutionary for television viewership.”

The 9th season of the game show will have 30 episodes, lasting 6 weeks. With Datsun on board as one of the partners, makers have decided that one participant every episode will be able to win a Datsun car. Further, keeping the Digital India initiative in mind, KBC will be going Cashless as all rewards will be given digitally, in association with Axis Bank.

Creative Producer of the show, Siddhartha Basu, said, “The makers have taken a decision to make the show interesting, entertaining and competitive. The show will start with a special episode of KBC rewind, where memories from the past seasons will be shared and relived. Further, we have also brought some new interesting elements on the show.

Phone a friend will now be ‘video a friend’ and the contestants will not only be able to talk but also watch their loved ones. This decision was taken keeping the dynamic change in mind. One more new lifeline is added to the show, called Jodi daar, where every contestant will be allowed to bring one special person will be allowed to support them with one question. This decision was taken hoping it will help bring a special dimension to the show.”

The show will air on Sony Entertainment Television, at 9:00 PM on weekdays, from August 28.
