Veteran actress Ashalata Wabgaonkar passes away due to Coronavirus

The actress had tested positive for COVID19 during the shoot of her Sony Marathi TV Show, Aai Mazi Kalubai. She was admitted at a hospital in Wai, however, he condition deteriorated soon after. She passed away on September 22, 2020.

Popular Marathi actress, Ashalta Wabgaonkar, passed away on September 22, due to coronavirus infection. As per reports, she was infected with the virus during the filming of 'Aai Mazi Kalubai' in Satara. Upon testing positive for COVID19, she was admitted to Wai-based Pratibha Hospital, on September 16, however, her condition deteriorated soon after.

Reports state that her oxygen levels were fluctuating, and doctors were treating her on ventilator support. She passed away at 4.30 AM on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.

Many celebrities took to social media to express their feelings about her demise

The shooting of the TV show began after the government allowed the activities to resume, and the same was planned at a farmhouse in Hingoli village near Wai in Satara. Ashalata was present at the shoot for the last few days, and the team began filming a song, with the help of a group of artists from Mumbai. It is now speculated that the infection might have spread from the member(s) of the group.

Besides Ashalata, 27 other crew members have also tested positive and are under quarantine as per the guidelines

Ashalata was born on May 31, 1941, in Goa, and made her acting career with Konkani and Marathi dramas. She has been a part of more than 100 Hindi and Marathi films so far. Her Bollywood debut film was Apne Paraye in 1980, alongside Amol Palekar and Shabana Azmi.

She was also a part of popular plays like Guntata Hridaya He, Varyavarchi Varat, Chinna, Mohananda, and films like  Umbartha, Sutradhar, Navri Mile Navaryala, Vahinichi Maya, and others.
