Monsoon withdrawal begins in Maharashtra

This year's monsoon had affected the lives of the farmers and several other families in many districts across Maharashtra, as excessive rains have caused severe damage to crops. Flood in the state had washed away dams, roads, bridges, and some houses.

Parts of Maharashtra, on Monday, October 26, 2020, experienced rainfall as a part of the monsoon withdrawal from the state. As per reports shared by the head of Mumbai's regional meteorological department, K S Hosalikar, the rainfall in most parts of the state is expected to return in the next 24 hours.

Sharing more information in this regard, he took to Twitter and said that the withdrawal of monsoon from Maharashtra has started today. The monsoon has withdrawn from Vidarbha, parts of Marathwada, parts of North Central Maharashtra and North Konkan. Withdrawl line passes through Dahanu, Nashik, Nanded and Nalgonda (Telangana) and further.

He also predicted rainfall with thunderstorms in several areas.

Keeping this in mind, the state had sanctioned relief assistance of INR 10,000 crore, and this was approved by the Mahavikas Aghadi government with an aim to provide relief to the victims. CM Uddhav Thackeray had announced the same for the people and cities affected with the damages.

Agriculture, crops, homes, roads, electricity pylons, transportation system etc have been affected and the state is working towards ensuring the relief is available to as many people as possible. CM stated the same while announcing the aid, assuming that every victim of the disaster will be benefited before Diwali 2020. He also clarified that additional help will be given to the heirs of the deceased, for deceased livestock, and the ones affected with house demolition.
