Days after registering the coldest morning of the season, the minimum temperature rose slightly in Mumbai on Tuesday, January 11. The India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Santacruz observatory registered a minimum temperature of 15.6 degrees Celsius. Previously, on Monday, January 10, the city had registered a minimum temperature of 13.2 degrees Celsius which was the season's lowest.

According to reports, the cold weather is likely to continue for the next 24 hours followed by a rise, said the Met department. Based on the IMD's seven-day forecast, from Thursday, the night temperatures are likely to increase. In accordance with the 24 hours forecast, the night temperature could be around 16 degrees Celsius. The mean minimum temperature, on the other hand, is 17.3 degrees Celsius, stated reports.

The low temperatures were registered two days after many parts of the city received unseasonal rains. Based on the forecast, the maximum temperature in Mumbai will increase to 30 degrees Celsius by the end of the week.

Apart from this, a yellow alert has been issued for many parts of Maharashtra in the Vidharbha region for the next two days. On Tuesday, the IMD predicted thunderstorms with lightning coupled with light to moderate rainfall.

Based on accounts, Mumbai registered "poor" air quality for almost two weeks, but its Air Quality Index (AQI) improved to the "satisfactory" section based on the System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR). On Wednesday, January 12, the AQI is likely to be in the "satisfactory" category, in accordance with SAFAR's forecast.
