Byculla - Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar, and one of the four sacred months of the year. Wednesday this year marks the day on which the Prophet Mohammad's young grandson Imam Hussein became a martyr. The occasion, like every year, will be marked by a mourning procession. Preparation for the sherbet that will be distributed to participants in the procession has already started in the area from Tuesday evening in Byculla, with several people boiling milk in huge vats for the milk sherbet, at different junctions of the area.
