With only six days to go, we have been inching closer towards Christmas, a sacred religious holiday along with a worldwide cultural and commercial phenomenon.

Christmas is considered to be an auspicious day due to the anniversary of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, a spiritual leader whose teachings form the basis of Christianity. However, Christmas is not limited to Christians only. People across the world celebrate the holiday by spending quality time with their friends and family, exchanging gifts and enjoying a meal prepared by family members. Traditionally, a meal of turkey and other festive foods like eggnog are consumed, however, in modern times, even a chicken pot pie suffices.

However, this year, as the world tries to grapple with the outbreak of the coronavirus, several families have decided to spend Christmas at home instead of large groups. Ahead of the holiday, we have compiled a list of activities one could do to celebrate the festival at home.

  • Nothing screams festive more than Christmas movies. Download “A Christmas Carol” or “The Nutcracker” for a good watch for the night.
  • Make handmade postcards. In a time when everything is practically virtual, the thought process behind handmade cards speaks volumes.
  • Bake lots of cookies and distribute amongst friends and family, along with the needy. A season that is ideally considered to be the time to be a good Samaritan, being a Secret Santa to someone else can fill you with unparalleled happiness.
  • Decorate as festively as you want. Just because you cannot hang out in public places does not mean that your house cannot be a reflection of the holiday season.
  • Put together a holiday puzzle. Doing a puzzle is a relaxing way to spend Christmas day or night. While you work, be sure to set the mood with a fire or candle.
  • Christmas Carols! Yes, do not forget to tune up the Christmas carols to vibe to the tune of festivity.
