Ahead of Ganeshotsav, Mumbai District Guardian Minister Deepak Kesarkar reviewed the preparations. On the occasion of 10-day festivity, a meeting regarding this was recently held in the hall of ‘F South’ section of Brihanumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

In the meeting, representatives of various authorities like Mumbai Police, Railways, BEST, Railway Security Force were present.

A discussion was held in the meeting regarding provision of drinking water, sanitation, parking, bus, railway services and toilet facility. Several other 52 issues were raised by the Brihanmumbai Ganeshotsav Coordination Committee in the previous meeting were also deliberated on this occasion.

After the meeting, Kesarkar announced free service will be provided for 24 hours on the days of immersion (visarjan) at the public parking lot near the immersion site this year.

He directed that more facilities should be made available to the devotees during Ganeshotsav, and also that various systems should take full care to ensure that Ganpati mandals and citizens are not inconvenienced at the immersion site.

Bottles of water will be provided to the devotees at major immersion sites. The solid waste management department is well equipped for the arrangement of devotees and mandals.

The officials of the municipality said in the meeting that the toilet facilities in the Visarjan area will be provided free of charge.

Kesarkar suggested that BEST and Railways should provide all-night services to avoid inconvenience to citizens traveling in Mumbai during festivity. He also directed the police and civic body to create public awareness by putting up boards about the facilities provided in the area of the immersion site, using signs and directional boards and markings on the immersion procession route.
