Mumbai – The announcement to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes on Tuesday night created quite a sensation. When the common people were facing problems, jewelers were seen benefitting from this sudden and surprising announcement. A large number of customers had started knocking on the doors of jewellers at early Wednesday morning. The yellow metal which was priced at Rs 30,000 for 10 grams had touched the rates of Rs 34,000 per 10 grams. But jewellers finally stopped accepting Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes from Wednesday afternoon. Some jewellers allegedly sold their gold at Rs 42,000 per 10 grams. The economy experts have appealed people to be patient and keep a watch on further instructions from the government.
