Mumbai City FC faced a defeat in a tough competition against Jamshedpur FC (JFC) in their encounter on February 8, Friday. With this victory, JFC has managed to stay in contention for the playoffs for the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) as they managed to score a goal in the 80th minute after a goalless first half. The result as drawn Jamshedpur closer to the fourth-placed NorthEast United.

The first half witnessed an aggressive game from both the sides but neither of them were able to convert the passes into goals. By the end first half, both Mumbai and Jamshedpur went to the dugouts without scoring any goals. However, the second half started with some end-to-end action before JFC sprung to action and Ferrando’s men pushed the visitors on the ropes for much of the half.

Although Jamshedpur midfielders Mario Arques and Pablo Morgado managed some exquisite passing, the strikers were unable to finish the created chances. However, the persistence from the hosts finally fruited as they were awarded a free-kick in the 80th minute. As Sergio Cidoncha swung the free-kick, Amrinder was able to present a weak punch which gave Memo clearance to send a looping header over the Mumbai keeper.

After which, the Men of Steel saw the game out without much hassle to spice up the race for the play-off spots whereas Mumbai remains in the second position, four points ahead of Cesar Ferrando's team.
