So far, officials have stated that Mumbai has reported six cases of the Delta Plus Variant.

On Sunday, the state health department, according to certain reports stated that a total of 45 cases of Delta Plus variant had been reported in Maharashtra till August 8.

Whilst Jalgaon recorded the highest cases at 13, Mumbai, on the other hand, reported six cases. 

Based on a statement, the department elaborated that 80% of the samples sent for genome sequencing, tested positive for the Delta Plus variant, claimed accounts. 

During his address to the state on Sunday, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray signalled the continued presence of the coronavirus. With the festival season now upon us, he has urged everyone to adhere to covid-19 protocols.

The Chief Minister stated that the virus is mutating and that the Delta variant is transmissible. During his briefing, he also elucidated on how a genome sequencing lab in Mumbai has been commenced

Additionally, districts that need to remain alert include Pune, Ahmednagar, Solapur, Sangli, Satara, Sindhudarg, Ratnagiri since they are liable for a significant number of cases, state reports. 

Based on certain reports, 5,508 new cases and 151 deaths were accounted for in the state on Sunday. With this, the case fatality is at 2.1%. On other hand, on Sunday, Mumbai reported 323 cases with 9 COVID deaths, taking the recovery rate of the city to 97%.
