Mumbai is short of 15,000 jabs of inoculating its complete population with at least one jab, with this officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are hopeful of attaining the 100 per cent first jab mark by Friday, November 12, stated a report by the Times of India. 

Based on the report, according to government estimates, the city has an adult population of 92,36,546. By Thursday, November 11, evening, 92,21,136 that is 99.8 per cent were partly vaccinated whilst 59,14,579 were fully vaccinated. In total, 1,51,35,715 jabs have been administered in Mumbai since the commencement of the vaccination drive in India from January 16.

Amongst civic authorities, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation that possess a population of 11 lakh was the first in the area to attain the 100 per cent first jab mark.

The report quoted, Suresh Kakani the additional municipal commissioner who stated that attaining this number would be a crucial milestone in the city's fight against the novel coronavirus. He also accorded the achievement to the health care workers who have been instrumental in the process.

Whilst Mumbai began with 10 public vaccination centres, through the months the number surged to 461 that also entails 145 private facilities. Interestingly, a significant number of inoculation has been undertaken at the private centres.

Kakani has reassured that the speed of the vaccination drive will not curtail since they have a far way to go. Moreover, it is anticipated that the vaccination drive for adolescents will commence from December
