As per recent updates, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has warned several hospitals stating that strict actions will be taken against them if the details about coronavirus patients and deaths are not reported in a speculated time, as suggested. The update states that as per law, hospitals have to submit details related to COVID-19 cases within 48 hours.

An order was issued regarding the same on June 8, 2020, where the municipal Corporation has made it mandatory for hospitals to submit the details on time. Notices were sent, a few days, to several hospitals which failed to do. However, Municipal Commissioner, Iqbal Singh Chahal has now issued the final warning. failing to which the BMC will take action against the communicable disease act, 1897.

This decision was taken after officials added 862 deaths the tally, which raised several questions regarding the official count of coronavirus cases. As per the report, the BMC has given this final chance to all hospitals to come out clean and report any COVID-positive deaths within 48 hours.

Talking to Hindustan Times, regarding the same, Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal said he cannot take action against BMC officers or blame them, as they did not lie. However, he also ensured that action will not be taken as the hospitals will collapse. Besides, this officials are conducting thorough investigations at private and public hospitals, so as to issue the right data, keeping the information transparent and available for the people.
