Vashi-based Vishnudas Bhave Natyagruha converted to a COVID-19 Jumbo Vaccination Centre

As per reports, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has set a target of achieving 100 per cent vaccination of atleast one dose to citizens above 45 years of age in the municipal area, by July 31, 2021.

A special jumbo vaccination center has been started at Vishnudas Bhave Natyagriha in Vashi and as per reports, this facility has the capacity to vaccinate 1,000 people daily. It is said that the vaccination booth has been set up on the stage of the theatre and a waiting and observation room has been set up in the seating area of the auditorium. It is said that the centre is fully air-conditioned and fully equipped with all the facilities including enough chairs and fans.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has set a target of achieving 100 per cent vaccination of at least one dose to citizens above 45 years of age in the municipal area. Officials are working towards achieving this by July 31, 2021, and necessary actions have been taken to increase the number of vaccination centers. Though the supply of vaccines not adequate at the moment, the Commissioner has laid special emphasis on ensuring that there should be no concerns after the vaccines are made available, post which the vaccination process will be started immediately.

At present, the Corporation has three hospitals for vaccination. Furthermore, the drive is being carried out at 32 places like Jumbo Vaccination Center at ESIS Hospital, Sector 5, Vashi. The list now includes Jumbo Vaccination Center at Vishnudas Bhave Natyagriha. A few days back, the civic body opened a vaccination center at Vashi's APMC market

Apart from this, with an aim to further increase the number of centres, NMMC has been planned to expand the same across 50 community centres and schools in various zones.

So far, over 2.57 lakh citizens have been vaccinated in NMMC area, of which, over 92,000 citizens have taken the second dose of the vaccine, which further reveals that a total of more than 3.5 lakh doses of vaccine have been administered. Necessary arrangements have been made for registration of both the vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin, at all the centres, and the next steps of the drive will be planned according to the availability.
