On the lines of the bike ambulance initiative of the state government, private players are also stepping in to provide the same. Likewise, Lodha Foundation has planned to launch first-of-its-kind bike ambulance with a stretcher. On the occasion of Maharashtra Day (May 1), this bike ambulance service will be launched on May 1, 2018.

This kind of bike ambulance with stretcher is one-of-its-kind and only runs in Singapore, Hong Kong, Brazil, Germany, and Kenya. The best part of this service is that it will be free. If we get a good response then we will increase the number of bike ambulance services,” Mangal Prabhat Lodha, MLA.

This bike ambulance is 5-feet long and is made in Hyderabad. According to Lodha, the stretcher is half-covered which will help patients to reach the hospital in a safe manner. Along with the stretcher, this bike has oxygen cylinder, first-aid kit, blood pressure kit along with the provision of a space for doctors to sit at the back, said Lodha.




The bike ambulance which was launched by the state government last year garnered good response and so far have treated 2500 people. Apart from this, more than 100 people have received primary treatment.
