In India, a statistic reveals that over 70% of women are suffering from gynaecological problems like PCOS, PCOD, Fibroids, Endometriosis, and Dyspareunia. There are up to 654611514 total women population as per census out of these 20 percent are suffering from such conditions. Though these disorders are so common, lack of information and proper healthcare facilities for these women leads to most of them remaining undiagnosed and untreated for a long time. Addressing these issues has become critical to improving women’s health care in the country.

Gynecologic pathologies are characterised by insidious and often overlooked telling signs which makes such ones difficult to diagnose at the early stages. “PCOS and PCOD conditions are also associated with hormonal imbalance which has effects of affecting the menstrual cycles, gaining weight for no reason, getting acne and hirsutism. Fibroids are non-cancerous growths located in the inner lining of the uterus which can lead to profuse menstrual bleeds, painless pelvic pressure, and infertility. In endometriosis, the tissue grows outside the uterus instead of inside and is accompanied by pelvic and lower back pain along with painful periods and problems getting pregnant. Dyspareunia involves one of the aspects of a woman’s sexual life and refers to painful sexual intercourse,” said Dr. Pradeep Mahajan, Regenerative Medicine Researcher & Founder of StemRx Hospital and Research Centre.

Dr Mahajan added, “Many women however explain these symptoms to themselves by blaming their busy lifestyles or age and stress and other factors thus postponing their treatment even more. Not only do they worsen the situation of their diseases due to the delay but they are also exposed to consequences such as being infertile, developing excruciating pain, or worse, going for a surgical procedure. Interesting shifts, away from conventional treatment options can also be observed.

According to Dr. Pradeep Mahajan who is an eminent researcher in the field of regenerative medicine, this particular avenue of medicine is effective for women suffering from PCOS, fibroids, endometrium, etc., as it treats the root cause of the problem rather than the symptoms only. A surgeon would remove folded pieces of tissue in the uterus walls called fibroids because of the problem associated with them. Progress has also been made in the treatment of these conditions, and it is not always necessary to resort to surgical intervention which is also referred to as cellular therapy. Surgery has always been the proceeding management owing to fibroids. Thanks to cellular therapy, the size of the majority of these fibroids has been reduced, and normal uterine confinement has been restored, improving the quality of life and the fertility potential of a woman in a significant way.”

“It is quite shocking that over 70% of women in India do not even realise why they need a gynaecologist, but there is a silver lining. The arrival of cellular therapy and regenerative medicine, instances of which have become a household name for women’s issues today, has provided women with better and more accurate treatments than ever. Such therapies do not just focus on eliminating the symptoms but also create a recovery plan that does not require any unpleasant invasive interventions. For instance, women need to bear in mind that most of these symptoms are not ordinary and hence must be treated like chronic pelvic pain, fever with no growth in body temperature, menstruation disorders, and pain during intercourse. Fortunately, women can go back to normal health and even enhance their quality of life by treating them on time,” concluded Dr Mahajan.
