As per reports, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) Commissioner has formed a Death Audit Committee, consisting of experts and doctors from the civic health department.

Following the demand of Thane Mayor Naresh Mhaske, Municipal Commissioner Vipin Sharma has asked the officials to audit all the deaths and submit a report. Thane Municipal Corporation happens to be the first municipal corporation to audit deaths due to the coronavirus amidst the pandemic. This audit is touted to help study major causes of COVID-19 deaths and will help take adequate measures to curb the death rates in the city

Moreover, the committee is to investigate the deaths due to COVID-19 and submitting the same with all the information with regards to whether the death was due to coronavirus, whether the patient was treated fairly and whether the current treatment method is correct or not. In addition, each member of the committee will be issued a particular task force regarding the audit, following which the report will be soon submitted to the TMC.

Meanwhile, earlier on Wednesday, November 4, a total of 168 fresh cases of the coronavirus were detected in Thane whereas 2 deaths were reported. So far, the total death count in the city has reached up to 1,161. Currently, there are 1,925 active patients, however, a total of 44,232 people have recovered so far from the coronavirus in Thane city.
