Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSTM), one of the main junctions on the Central Railways, will soon be illuminated with green energy. All the power required for the offices and different departments of Central Railways will be provided from the Green Energy Project.

This comes after converting Neral-Matheran section, Asangaon and Mankurd as fully green energy stations and now the same will be a reality at the CSTM station.

The Central Railway signed an agreement with M/s Sri Pavan Energy Private Limited, a government of India initiative, to provide the power at ₹5.18 per unit for the same. Under this agreement, the power of 6 MegaWatt green energy generated will be utilised at six different stations of Central Railway and South Eastern Railway - Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Manmad, Bhusawal and Nagpur. So, a total of 12.93 million units of green energy is expected to be generated which will be used for energy conservation in the offices of the CSTM station.

Power will be created in Sangli district of Maharashtra. It will be generated from the grid connection of different spots of Central Railway. The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) is expected to save about ₹1.5 crore on the electricity bill.
