On Monday, October 11, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari met Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. They reviewed all Maharashtra's national highway projects' progress.
Confirming the same, CM Uddhav Thackeray said that there would be a regular follow-up on all the state and national highway projects. Weekly meetings will be conducted by the chief state secretary. He further said that this will be monitored on the CM and deputy CM levels, and this is necessary to expedite the projects. All the pending clearances with regards to the forest department and land acquisition will also be addressed, said Thackeray.

To resolve the issues related to land acquisition or forest clearances projects in Vidarbha, Marathwada, North Maharashtra, western Maharashtra, and Konkan Nitin Gadkari has asked the state to appoint retired IAS officers. They can help in resolving these complex issues.
Talking about the same, he told the state government that they can not compromise the quality and deadline of projects and hence should take the help of the retired IAS officers.
The most important agenda of their meeting was the road widening of the Mumbai-Goa highway. In the meeting, Deputy CM and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat, Ashok Chavan the PWD Minister, and Eknath Shinde the Urban Development Minister were also present.
