Due to the cold response from the people regarding the MHADA Konkan Board lottery, Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has decided to extend the dates of declaration of its lottery, along with the registration and money deposit dates.
The lottery was earlier scheduled to be declared on August 19 but now has been postponed to August 25. The registration date has been extended to August 16, and deposit date has been delayed till August 18.
The lottery was completely prepared and the registration and deposit process was in its final stage but the decision to postpone comes as an attempt to inflate the number of applications by the Konkan Board. It would now be remarkable to see if this move by MHADA Konkan Board works in their favour or not.
The lottery is to be held for 9018 houses and it was expected that the number of applicants will at least reach till 35,000. However, the number of applicants hardly crossed the 26,000 mark when three days after the registration were left. However, while only a day remained for the registration, the officials expected the number of applicants to reach the 50,000 mark but it was less than 45,000 applicants.
It is now clear that the overall lottery system has not been successful, the Konkan Board has themselves proved it in front of the public by extending the dates. The lottery registration deadline is 12:00 am on August 16 and the people will be able to deposit money through NEFT and RTGS up to 12:00 am on August 16. The challan has to be submitted to the bank by August 18.
The final list of applicants will be announced on July 22, 6:00 pm after the final scrutiny of the submitted applications.
