Urban development minister, Eknath Shinde who is also heading the state’s road agency, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), stated that the 701km Mumbai-Nagpur Balasaheb Thackeray Samrudhhi Expressway will be opened for traffic in the arriving two months, stated reports.

According to accounts, the Maharashtra government, last month accorded another six-month extension to the MSRDC managing director, R Moppalwar who has been administering the execution of the project.

On Wednesday, December 8, while speaking at the Lokmat Infra Conclave, Shinde elaborated on how the government is curating a network of roadways to ameliorate connectivity and enhance business activity.

Shinder further elucidated that since the environment is a critical phenomenon presently, they have curated a green zone through this route that entails an underpass for wildlife. He added that the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link will be commissioned by September-October 2023.

Shinde, also mentioned the coastal road project, stating that it will open by December 2023. He stated that the plan is to interlink all districts in the state for which the 5,500 km of roadways has been proposed.

He said that once the expressway is commissioned, they will begin the construction of elongating it to Gondia, Bhandara and Gadchiroli. Shinde then drew contrast to the Mumbai-Pune expressway.

Remarking that like the earlier assisted in growth, this will also enable the distance to be covered in 6-7 hours. Shinde is of the opinion that this will offer impetus to the Vidarbha and Marathwada region.
